The Spiritual Challenges of 2020 that “Spiritual” People are Failing
How is a community so focused on “learning lessons” failing to grasp the most significant lessons of 2020?
We are here to learn… challenges are lessons… crisis offers opportunity…
These platitudes are the first aid responses of spiritual people. I believe these statements are true, but for years have taken issue with many in the “spiritual” community who use these concepts as empty slogans rather than principles to live by.
Now in 2020, amidst a global pandemic and daily revelations of deeper levels of atrocities and injustices here in the U.S., I look to my peers in the spiritual community to step up and put our beliefs and practices into use to serve others and foster deeper reflection, action, healing and justice…
And have been deeply disappointed.
Why is it that on the whole, we “spiritual” folk are obsessed with the value of lessons and at the same time, quick to drop the ball when we are faced with the biggest challenges and lessons of our lifetime?
What does it look like when a “spiritual” community fails to live up to these tenets and use the basis of spiritual teachings to serve others in a time of crisis?
